For: AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FUNDING

The County of Simcoe is requesting Proposals for the creation of additional living spaces that meet affordability requirements.

The County of Simcoe has allocated $1,900,000 from the Housing Opportunities Fund (HOF) to be used for the creation of affordable units. This one-time funding may be used for the development of residential rental projects within the County of Simcoe as well as cities of Barrie and Orillia. The expectation will be that rents are to be set at the required levels of affordability, as described herein. 

The funding will be issued per unit and can be used toward any Eligible Costs involved in the project. The per unit funds cannot exceed $200,000 and cannot be used for operational costs. 

Building must begin no later than June 30, 2026 and be completed within eighteen (18) months.

There are no requirements for design type or size, however, all units must be rented at 120% Average Market Rent (AMR) or less.
