For: Supply and Installation of a Prefabricated Residential Structure/ Garden Suite

As a subsequent opportunity to the initial RFP 2025-047, the Simcoe County Housing Corporation is looking to fulfill the remaining location with one (1) Prefabricated Residential Structure, also known as a Garden Suites for the following pilot project.

In a pilot project, the Simcoe County Housing Corporation (SCHC) is requesting Proposals for the construction/supply, delivery and installation Prefabricated Residential Structures, also known as a Garden Suites; self-contained accessory residential buildings designed to be ground-oriented suites in the backyard of a single residential dwelling property.

The Garden Suite pilot project aims to shortlist a prefabricated residential structure for construction in 2026. The prefabricated residential structure will be monitored for one (1) year from completion of installation. The garden suite will then undergo a secondary evaluation (Schedule C) including, but not limited to the unit’s durability, cost, design, tenant feedback and contractor performance prior to standardizing a prefabricated residential structure eligible for construction in future years contingent on funding opportunities and Council approval to proceed with the full implementation of the Garden Suite Project.

The garden suite will be installed on existing County owned residential property and municipal infrastructure, providing a sustainable and economical way to increase and diversify the SCHC’s rental housing stock in the County of Simcoe.
